I will have to ask SM for the defination of stunt bass. I think it has to cause your bowels to loosen.

    Hi,

If I would have needed the slightest proof that you have not the faitest idea what you speak of when it comes to audio this certainly removes it.

    Hi,

Ahhh, well, I don't kinda go in for that kind of stuff. If I need to loosen my bowels i find a Vindaloo Curry or a dodgy Kebab does nicely, if ingested after a long night drinking.... ;-)

Thorsten, do you know why the voltage of a capacitor, c, is a function of capacitance C(c,q) where q is charge, and of fixed value ?

You my friend need to sample my local curry houses kalapuri chicken - a vindaloo is just a light searing of the lower intestine in comparison.

    Hi,

    :bakeoff:

For fear of ending up in the hands of a certain Doctor and Proctologist :bub: of our mutal aquaintance via this board I am forced to decline this otherwise most delightful suggestion.... :D

If I would have needed the slightest proof that you have not the faintest idea what you speak of when it comes to electronics, and more specifically capacitors, your lack of response certainly removes it.

Just because he is not responding to your question, does not make you any the less clueless about speakers.

If you ever produce a loudspeaker worth listening to, or stop to accept that your POV is just that, and others are equally valid, I might stop to have an intelligent conversation with you.

You have done nothing to show that a directional loudspeaker in a normal enviroment is in any way superior to one with wide dispertion in an acoustically treated one. And yet you continue to beat your drum like an african warrior on speed.

If those dipoles are in any way indicative of the results of your labours, I think you are seriously barking.

I got the same patronizing response from him. I hasten to add that most hi fi speakers are omindirectional in the bass region anyway, and funnily enough the only way to avoid this would be to introduce group delay in the bass frequencies, which would deviate from thorstens argument of having a time/pulse coherent point source. Loesch even postulated that the non diffused sound must also be time coherent, therefore he is advocating one theory, while making other statements which are contradictory to his theory.(i.e of a uniform group delay point source)

My advice to you would be to not waste your time conversing with someone who persists in claiming black is white.

    Regards,

    Johnny

I suspect it's all part of some wild nightly fantasy BBV, but honestly the thought repulses me.

It seems to be his way I'm afraid. It's a shame he doesn't answer the question instead really, show the worth of directional loudspeakers. Still, maybe he will get tired of "beating it" at some point and put forward a coherent case without sounding like a pompous foreigner.

Having to resort to ad hominem arguments now? Being a "foreigner" myself, I'm not happy with that, although, come to think of it, I wouldn't be happy even if I weren't a foreigner.

Personally, I think Torsten is absolutely right: if you want to hear deep into a recording, as in a mastering studio, directional speakers are a good tool. Whether or not you want to live with that at home is a different matter entirely.
