I have since contacted Colin @ cpt acoustics who sells/fit trichord products.the guy recomended me to fit their clock 4 and the never connected power supply and promised a big improvement over standard at a cost of £400 fitted.....not bad.

    Hi

Suprised he's not been on. PM Wadiameister on this forum who mods CDPs.

I dont recall anyone on the forum modding a SCD-1 before, probably why no response.

NB Why arent you happy with it as stock? Id heard it was a great CDP?

It is a great player...just looking at the thing says it all..the sound is so right, but I m sure it can be improved on, like how my pair of Kef 105/3 sounded after complete caps change inc Hovland musicap and silver wired.
    Thx

Along similar lines to your 105s I use a pair of 107/2. In terms of "standard" mods I think the audiocom package is a little expensive (IMO of course). The vacuumstate package has great reviews and seems good value. I have other priorities for the time being, but the vacuumstate upgrade is the one that most appeals to me for my SCD-1.

    CA,

As you spoke to him earlier what do you feel?, he has to be pretty skilled, else Trichord wouldn't do business with him I feel.
Quite a few places in the US that specialise in sony mods too.
Dan @modwright, Bryce @Sound odyessy, Audiocom over here or LC audio in Holland?. Plus the vac mods Greg has pointed out. Wm

I would also heartily recommend you discuss directly with Wadia-Meister, he is passionate to say the least about player modding and would no doubt have a range of good ideas way beyond just the clock mod.

Seconded. The man's itching to have a go, but he doesn't want to say so himself.

Having heard his system for the first time yesterday - including one of his trick Wadia 850's - I can certainly vouch for his results, though I'll explain my opinions in more detail separately. The only reason I am considering the vacuumstate package is due to a) how specifically developed it is for Sony players and b) how radical their level 2 mod pack is - basically it completely bypasses the output stage with their own, but leaves the original output stage available - so you can compare and contrast. I would expect to also have WM perform other mods even if I did go VS. However I'm in no rush right now to get anything done to it until other objectives have been met.
