I agree. There should IMHO be a firm boundary preventing any religion having political influence in a democratic state. This division exists as legislation in the USA but the Christian fundamentalists of the Republican party are slipping in under it and distorting things. We have no such division between church and state in the UK – we are I believe still technically a "Christian" country (though thankfully our church seems far less dangerous, intolerant and extreme). The main problem we face is from the Labour government with their support of "Faith Schools" which clearly open the door to the religious indoctrination and brainwashing of children as seen in much of the US and many middle eastern Islamic states. I'd personally like to see religion entirely purged from schools.
