With great reluctance I now realise that I only use one turntable, so I am offering the Source for sale.

The Source is a Scottish designed and made turntable which was launched in the late eighties. When I bought it in the spring and got it home, I thought that it easily outclassed my well regarded LP12, which I subsequently sold.

The Source is far more substantially built than the LP12 a real heavyweight. It's platter is brass and weighs 7.5kgs and the total weight is 22kgs overall.

It has two transit screws to hold the inner platter and arm board when it is being moved.

The arm is the highly rated Alphason Xenon, and the previous owner added strips of lead to the underside of the rear counterweight so it can take very heavy cartridges with ease.

When I got the Source home, I decided to send the Xenon off to J7 at Audio Origami and get him to check over the arm firstly, then fit:
    • Silver Kondo internal wiring
    • Kondo cartridge tags
    • Fit a 1m pair Audio Note ANv silver interconnect as the external cable with the earthing wires and modified neutrix phono plugs.
    • Make and supply a finger lift.
    • Make and supply a new anti-skate weight.

The original AO bill will be provided.

The Source has a very tidy Perspex hinged top, and a massive Papst Hall-Effect motor to drive the platter.

The photographs show just how good a condition the Source is for a turntable of this vintage. The Source plays 33 & 45 rpm and the speed is changed by the switch on the front.

I don't have any boxes, and would be prepared to meet any buyer within a reasonable distance from Cheltenham/Gloucester.

I am looking to recoup the £1,050 that I have paid for the Source and Xenon upgrades.
