I need new speaker cables they will need to be 3.5m, at the moment I am using chord Rumour (I know) it is just to long 7m. I don't want to spend much money and would prefer a neutral to slightly dark side sound from the cable. My system is Arcam fmj23, Nad s300, PMC FB1+ any help guys?

perfect for a slightly rolled off top with good dynamics is the van damme from maplin, this pro audio cable has a lovely look and finish, too.

Identical to all intents and purposes to Van Damme 2.5mm blue.

Sommer Cable Meridian SP225. I've just bought five metres for a little over £5 for use with my PC monitors. :)

No 'speaker wire looks pretty trailing arround the room so, IMO there is no need to buy expensive 'speaker cable; 2.5mm (or higher) mains house wire works wonders - try it and prepare to be surprised!

If you can fit it under the carpet, then try Merlin (on eBay) or DNM, both of which is flat.

Does any of the QED (XT300 etc.) not float your boat?

My local dealer lends out sets of cables for you to try at home. Do you not have anyone local who will do the same thing?

Buy 50 feet of this military spec silver plated wire which gives you enough to make two sets of 3.5m speaker wires with a light twist or buy two to make a set with a tight twisted pair configuration.

I have just wired a Tag McLaren HT system with this wire and it sounds absolutely stunning!

$12 plus $7 shipping, an audiophile bargain!
