We all have our preferences whats yours? Single driver, 2 way, 3 Way, Electrostatic, Transmission line, Other. Please tell us why as well.
For me its Transmission line 9 midbass drivers, 24 Tweeters, with separate sub.

Do you mean my choice. If so I like the fact it moves some air and presents a larger more to lifelike scale.

Well, if I had SERIOUS room..

    It would be ....

    2 x Velodyne 15"
2 x Folden horn for bass (stereo)
    10"
    A TAD mid range driver
    A TAD tweeter

    Yes that would do nicely.
Only thing I haven't decided, is if the 10" would be horn loaded, sealed box or whatever.

This lot however would make a 30 x 20 foot room look tiddly.

I have to say this is IMHO one of the most interesting new speakers in a long time. [IMG]

For those looking for a more lifestyle solution, it's just 6 inches deep and 24" tall, perfect for wall mounting besides a flat screen. It has adjustable contouring to work in free space or on the wall. But for a lifestyle product it is remarkably uncompromised. It's a full three way with 8" bass unit, 4" midrange cone and Beryllium tweeter, and it's a sealed box so that there's no attempt to get deep bass from it. With a discretely placed sub like a Velodyne or the Revel B15a, this could be a pretty high end solution that does not upset the wife.

Full range, three way, preferably no smaller than an 8" bass driver but 15" prefered.

Of course it all depends on the room and budget, and at the moment my preference would be a full PMC/Bryston BB5/XBD-A package if funds and room permitted (even a full 7 channel surround system would be interesting in a second room!). Sorry, it is still one of my most memorable demo's.

Rollo - 9 midbass drivers and 24 tweeters in each speaker?

Im in a quad Electrostatics in one room Klipschorns in another room phase myself at the mo. (Although i have some Sonab Omis, B&W P2H's and Jordon Watts single module units to fall back on should I get bored)

I want some modern horns but at the moment they are out of my price range

Apogees, for that seamless integration of frequencies and ability to really flap the trouser legs when required...

I quite like simplicity in a speaker - a well engineered 2 way is fine, especially when "taken to the limit" in eg Merlin TSM / VSM

Fantastic design. I will have to check these out. Wide and shallow is so obviously the way to go for integration with LCDs / Plasmas + infinite baffle and L-pads for fine adjustment. Be midrange cone would have been nice, though ;-)

IMNVHO for a speaker to begin to approach full range it needs an internal volume of at least 50 litres (give or take) and a 12" LF driver. Basically, it's going to be a large well-integrated 3-way. I'm not adverse to huge 4- or 5-ways, though :)

I'd go with that. Low distortion, full bandwidth and a realistic dynamic range and level capability are important to me. That rules out about 95% of loudspeakers I guess.

Something that could give me what I have now only at a third of the size! Oh and some ears that didn't bung up at first sign of a cold:confused:

The best speakers I've heard were a pair of Avantgarde horns, so I guess that's my choice settled.

give me 2 funktion 1 dance stacks, a few killowatts of quality amplification, 2x 1210 mk2's , 2 cdj1000's, a 6 channel mixer and some talented dj's. failing that the same speakers and amp with my squeezebox and a/s decade on the front.

    An excellent choice!

At the risk of being perceived as waving my wanger around - I have the MB2-XBD-A

Tenson - things have moved on at chez Brizon. The new room sounds better bizarrely and the removal of any pre has lifted things significantly. Pop in next time you are passing its come on a long way.
