...hmmmmm not sure as it was quite meant to be that :)

I got a local fabricator to make them up after comparing the difference between a lightly constructed pair (maker will remain nameless) zanash's heavier built ones. I was quite shocked at the difference actually.

YOur s look better still. The four support idea was always on the back of my mind but made the constructon costs prohibitive. Then again if you're made them yourself........

They really want painting but have packed up on crummy aerasol car paint sprays .

Sounds very good, when setup correctly. Extremely detailed delivery. Using it with the W-210 corner woofers, TDAi and SDA. It's very dry though, so not for everyone.

And D&B or L-ACOUSTICS are even better. These EU makes have somehow managed to virtually eliminate the traditional PA "bark". They can sound nearly hifi at moderate levels (except they drop off around 13KHz but who needs that anyway).

    Tad 2401

I really fancy these TAD 2401 Exclusives, which are being sold off by a local studio:

it's like a folded horn, but badly spelt! :p

Specifically, I'm thinking of the folded bass bins I heard at Living Voice.

They are extra-ordinary, simply the best bass I've ever heard, ever ever ever. A million miles from a sealed box, ported box, sub-woofer or whatever you like..

They are in this thread, here

Buy them straight away. Or at least pass the phone number of the studio along to Stereo Mic or AndyOz. These are *very* serious speakers.

Makes you wonder what they are selling them to buy (unless the studios closing)

I could just fit them side by side in my flat, but I don't think I can get them through the door! They're asking 13K€, and I think this is the studio.

Clearly they switched them for a pair of NS10s.

In all honesty I'd consider them a slight downgrade Joel ;)

They do look really rather nice though - one of the inspirations behind my new cabinets...

Would like to try a pair of 1601's in a 12 cu ft box though.

I regularly do business with the ex-distrbutor for Westlake here in France.

He said that the 2401 was much preferable to most of the large Westlake speakers..with a couple of exceptions. He also said that the 2401 was a lot better than my 2402...as the twin bass drivers go somewhat a long way to improving efficiency.

I had a pair of the 2401's and sold them for 15k euros.

I wonder if this pair are really 2401 Twins and not the Studio TSM-1 version. Those are much more difficult to drive apparently.

Which speakers? It totally depends on your room and even your amp. For normal sized rooms I loved the way the Shahinian Arcs worked with valve amps; for transistor amps I loved the Proac Futures (which I own). All within reasonable budgets.
