A friend has all MF kit, in particular a Trivista Integrated and a MF KW25 CDP +DAC, and would like to upgrade his ancient floorstanding speakers (TDLs).

I know that there are quite a few MF users, past & present who might have ideas of speakers that would be a good match for the Trivista.

    Thanks

Look at the recent thread on wigwam entitled 'ProAc Studio 140'. There is supposedly a real synergy between MF and proAc.

(oh, and ignore my signature. I didn't say that)

Yep, Proac is a good speaker and suits MF well.

The other brand I personally use (with a Nuvista in my case) is Sonus Faber. It works very well, but with one the caveat: that (to my ears) some MF kit is not as refined as it could be in the treble (the NuVista is fine and I would guess the TriVista as well).

When pairing this with the very extended and revealing tweeter of some SFs (Cremonas and above especially) can cause some material to sound not so good.

I WOULD RECOMEND PRO-AC, they do have a synergy that matches well also they are a very good louspeaker overall, also tannoy dimensions are good too, but i do like the sound of pro-acs with M.F. gear,

I've used an A5 pre pwr with Sonus F. Grand Piano's with excellent results, I'm guessing the newer Domus range will work well also. The Pro-acs I dem'd - not sure which model but they were about £1700 and floor standers - didn't really do it for me. No accounting for taste and your own ears, plenty seem to like the combo.

speakers are a very personal issue, i know that they are the longest living hi-fi item with almost all the owners of hi-fi, you will always change your electronics but you will find out once you like and prefer the speakers it will become part of you for a long time, one can only give an oppinion as where to go to judgeing by the electronics,

I use ATC SCM 100's with my nu-vista 300 and to my ears they sound great.
