The story behind this thread is under Monoblocking Amps.

Apart from ATC, which seem to specialise in high powerhouse input, what other speakers would be in the frame, preferably second hand, and under £1000.

I know the ATC SCM7 is new at £500 and would tide me over for a while, but the larger ATC's are much dearer. I hav'nt heard any but have seen some of the bigger ones and there are big big.

    All suggestions welcome

Isn't this hi fi fun ? Just as you get your rig nice, off you go again on more money.....Disease or what ?

Dyns love high power amps but they're usually 4ohm impedance.

I know, if I could get Dyns at 8 ohm I would be a happy bunny.

amplifiers are 1 stage, 2 stage, 3 stage, and ...
1 stage is giving x watt to 8 ohm and same x watt to 4 ohm
2 stage is giving x watt to 8 ohm and same 2x watt to 4 ohm
3 stage is giving x watt to 8 ohm and same 2x watt to 4 ohm and 4x watt to 2 ohm
    and ....
power output have no relative to stage
may be your 600 watt/8 ohm give 650 watt/4 ohm but one 50 watt/8 ohm amplifier give you 100 watt/4 ohm.
dynaudio speakers need 2 stage amplifiers not 600 watt amplifiers, be sure
