A friend is thinking of buying some speakers for his computer.

Reading up, the only recommendation I've found is TDK S-80's which is a sub and two NXT sats. Don't even know if they still make them.

Can anyone else recommend speakers that will produce a half way decent musical sound??

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

What he has in mind are small speakers that could possibly even sit alongside a computer for fairly close range listening.

I didn't see any in there, unless I'm missing the model/need to clarify my requirements. Nice to see manufacturers I've not heard of before though.

    Hi,

I've actually got a set of these available for sale and they are truly excellent....I also use Aego p2's which are also very good.

£45 plus p/p for the TDK's if you're interested. Just PM me, cheers.

I'd second the TDKs - the NXT speakers are really very good, particularly on the midrange, and even the sub is not bad for the price. I paid about £60 new for mine a couple of years ago; they were originally about £90 I think.

Wow they look amazing, shame I'm not a DIY'er.

Thanks for sharing that, what on earth are those panels made of?

I'd suggest (deep breath...) some Russ Andrews Rave speakers - I bought a pair for £20 on ebay last year "just to see" if you know what I mean - good with t-amp, great on my son's mini-system and currently on the PC in place of sub/sats. Very pleasant surprise.

nothing wrong with that suggestion Neil. Perfectly sensible thing to get IMO.

I used to have a Rotel amp before the Sonic T, and to be honest it was better. The Sonic T wins hands-down on a small size and therefore perfect for a p.c. basis though.

I like my knackered old missions on the PC, but if doing it again I'd get a really old Arcam, Rotel or similar amp. Not a small/neat solution however.
