got a fun amp, perhaps time to look for speakers with slam and fun factor, whilst still being hifi, these are probably very rare.

meadowlard being the obvious I am sure :)

    any suggestions?

Anyone who likes the speakers they are using will say they have slam and fun factor!

...which is precisely why I recommend you get to hear some Castle Conway 3s. They are definitely fun and are quite accomplished at slam and indeed thwack. In short, they kick butt! :slayer:

Rega Ela and sub. The Ela's are easily the most fun speakers I've ever heard, regardless of price.

They're fun - but you need a VERY GOOD sub to keep up I reckon. Besides, unless you listen to organ music at 300 Db (or dub reggae) there's plenty enough TUNEFUL bass there - especially on stuff like psytrance.

Plus they're efficient, revealing-enough, but still complimentary to most sources. And I'm saying that with my pair which NEED new tweeters - roll on summer bonus :)

Since you've got that big, powerful pro amp now that will deliver oodles of current...

...Get yourself some big Apogees. Duetta Sigs or something.

From what I heared they also sound extremely bright and tinny in the upper end though. They produce that car audio sound.

I am sure you will be able to get the slam while still getting that all important clear mid range and subtle trebble.

When I was 18 I used to run four large vega's with dual amps in my bedroom. Great fun, but crap fidelity. Sounds like a car audio sound, NOT hifi. Only use for dance music at a party.

Aah you must mean the Meadowlard Kastrols - the one with the very high oil content and phat sound
