Best film I saw last year. Japanese animation by Hayao Miyazaki. Also recommend pretty much anything else from him; Nausicaa of the valley of the wind and kiki's delivery service and Laputa: Castle in the sky are the best.

EDIT: As mentioned in the House of Flying Daggers thread, best watched in native language with subs.

My favourite is still Princess Mononoke though - something dark & edgy about it. Good English voice acting too.

Spirited Away is a stunning work nonetheless. Wees on Disney from a very great height! Looking forward to Howl's with great anticipation!!

Watched Appleseed (2004) for the first time on sunday. Blew me away - simply breathtaking anime. OK, so its perhaps not as good as GITS 2 in terms of quality of facial animation (appleseed uses facial mo-cap + cgi afaik), but I'll forgive it that ;-)

Also has the obligatory impenetrable Anime story line and completely innapropriate soundtrack too :D

The Fist of the north Star is my fave. closely followed by Ghost in the shell, Ninja scrolls and legend of the demon womb (uroskudoju (sp?)), but then I always was more of a manga man:)

I was referring to my favourite Miyazaki film! My favourite all-time Anime is probably Ninja Scroll.

    lol!

SF2 is the best video game ever created. I've been playing it regularly since 1991 (Christ - I've just realised that's 14 years  ) and will still be playing it in 50 years time :MILD:

    Agreed!

I started on the SNES (although I have played earlier versions) but found SF2 Turbo (with the speed hack) to be the best version. Triple DPs were the ordedr of the day:)

    happy days.

Turbo is my second fave - I prefer Super Turbo because of its rock-hard difficulty level (that I still find challenging to this day)!

There have been so many iterations over years though - Alpha, EX, Vs Marvel, Vs SNK etc. Which reminds me, I must get Xbox live and play SF anniversary online sometime!!

Sorry for hi-jacking your thread Hifikrazy - but there's no Zerogain video game forum! (wouldn't want those smelly teenagers lurking 'round here, would we?)

Spirited Away has to best the BEST anime I have yet seen (and i agree, pee's all over the majority of Disney Drivel).

Slightly better than Akira, princess mononoke etc etc

Can't wait for Miyazaki's next offering
