Thats why I suggested installing slimserver on another PC.

The router suggestion is because the squeezebox isn't connecting to the network either, so there must be two problems here, wiring to the router will establish whether the wireless card in the Squeezebox has failed, if it has, fixing the PC side still won't completely solve the problem.
