Ok purse your lips and suck in breath to make a slight squeaky noise. Not too loud but on and off. Thats what I heard coming from the left channel last night after half an hours listening.

    Amp iconaudio 40i
    Source Minimax cdp
    Speakers ProAc 140's

ANy ideas? I turned the amp off and then on again and the noise had gone. Initially thought it was interference from the central heating but when I turned this off the squeak was still there.

I would be inclined to blame a sound like that on the valves... Maybe one of them is on the way out?

How very dare it be the valves! The amp is barely 6months old.

Maybe it was just having a bad day...? Leave it a while and see if it comes back?

if they are the original valves ......they could well be on the way.

Its allways worth having a second set to hand.
