    anyone tried any?

various fora have mentioned linear power supplies. Has anyone tried this?

If so I'd be interested to hear what you thought, where to buy from and what spec?

Also has anyone has dabled with DACs and the SB? Worth it?

.. I can feel a tweaking xmas coming up..

the two best sb mods are a better psu to replace the wall wart and a good external dac.

not particularly i use a 15 quid jobbie from maplin with a slightly stiffer supply but it's still a switch mode psu with no regulation. if anyone knows of an off the shelf plug and play linear, regulated psu that i can just connect up i'd be very interested.

    that looks interesting Lee...

silly question time...would it come like that or as a covered box do you know?

also it doesn't say how the power comes in or goes out in terms of plugs/wires etc.

Have built plently of proper psu's for the s/b's plus other mods. still a long way off quality hifi, however great for back ground music
Lee's suggestion providing you shield it up well should work fine

Yes even with a good dac, happy to demostrate this at any time.
The HDD options does has one huge bonus though, hours and hours of no disc changing :D
I use my Wadia dac section through a seriously modded sb2, its ok but not a patch on the transport.
    Some thoughts here

    Not according to the blurb
"A range of high quality, low cost linear regulated power suppliers mounted on an 'L' shaped chassis."

interesting twist to this thread. just lurking on this for a while, allowing bank balance to recover from other demands, and beginning to sketch a plan.

It takes a bit more than a new PSU to bring the SB up to scratch.

Take a look at www.at-tunes.co.uk and then give Patrick Dixon a call if it peeks your interest.
