I collect my 'new' Quad 57 stats tomorrow. :)

I know they sound better off the floor.

Any recommendations for a suitable way to do this?

I've seen the One Thing Audio 'Rupert' stands - very nice, but £200!

Jerry - you are worse than me! - I made some - not difficult to do - but the Ruperts do look nice - put an ad on HFFS as stands are about

Thanks Laurence - good idea! Want Ad now on hffs.

I've fancied some Quad 57 speeks for years, and a BIN auction on eBay for a recently serviced pair finally did the trick! :)

Here's a pic of my new babies in their new home. :)

Stands shown are just what I happened to have lying around (as one does!) - they are a bit too high really - about 43cm or so.

Yes, I know - the room's in a terrible mess  but moving speakers around is very disruptive!

Jeeezzzzzz man, your cabling is terrible! Such chaos has to have some effect on sound quality. And usually a negative effect.

No No No - that's a carefully woven cable braiding, designed to totally eliminate all RFI - as approved by the Advertising Standards Agency. :D

    Hi

Glad you like the Quads. I'm thinking of listening to the newer Quads of similar size at a local dealer.

    I was wondering:

    how big your room was?

how far from the front and side walls the Quad are positioned?

what's the the distance between the speakers?

    Thanks

    jaspal.

    Hi Jaspal

How did you get on with the Podiums?

    My room is 20x12 feet - just under 5 x 3m.

Speakers are now about 4 feet (just over 1m) from the wall behind them and about 6-8 inches (15-20cm from the sidewalls).

I started using them with only 2 feet (60cm) behind them, but they really do need more than that to form a good soundstage/image.

The inside edges of the speakers are 5 feet (1.5m) apart.

    Hope that helps! :)
