Is there anything that can be done to help get my short straight tonearm on my STR8 80 aligned? I'm told an angled headshell

That arm is designed for scratching rather than playing records, and the socket on the arm will only take a straight headshell. I've never seen an angled headshell with that type of plug/socket.

What you can do, is to widen the slots in the headshell so you can rotate the cartridge and try to align it, but I'm not sure the arm is long enough. If you move the arm to the record centre, does the stylus overhang the centre by 15mm or so? If so, then rotating the cartridge should align it. If the overhang is much less or none at all, then no amount of rotation will get the cartridge aligned.
