Strange call

Any ideas on this one? We got a weird call this morning on our landline. A female voice saying 'This is XXX, if you are around on Saturday, we may call'.

XXX being the actual person or company. The call was made from a mobile. After they said this, I put the phone down quickly and they called again twice.

Any ideas what sort of company or person this could be? 1471 brought up a mobile number.

 

There was something on the radio t'other day about companies, mostly in the financial sector, making these sorts of automated calls. Apart from the obvious nuisance caused by cold calling, sometimes the person receiving the call hears only silence, which can distress people who live alone and are afraid someone's stalking them. This method of calling is being investigated by the Financial Services Authority.

 

Thanks Joe. It's a bit wierd all the same. Hope we do't end up with people banging on our door on Saturday. Strangely, the call occoured just after 7am, so I'm stumped as to what kind of company it might be.

 

If you have the name you could try sticking it in google, see if that sheds any light?

 

Thats the weird thing. The person from the phone said they were literally from XXX.

 

Ahhh, I wondered what all the secrecy was about
Maybe try sticking the whole phrase in?
