anybody else going to see this - i'm thinking about zooming in tommorrow afternoon?
ahh one of those whacky london things that's designed to make livng in an overpriced, noxious, ananymous hole slightly more bearable. cheers julian.
I'm glad its so cheap wherte I live, up at edinburgh for easter - that was pricey - spent 32 quid on a happy hour indian meal for 2 - that consisted of 2 main courses, a paratha and 2 drinks...! went down to blackpool on saturday and the price of a single day pass to go on the rides is 29 quid, that means 58 quid for my missus and me to go on some unfair rides..!
yeah - i'd love to live back up in west yorks, the scenery was great and things cost a lot less, ok so you didn;t get skiny half caff mocha-chocca-cino's unless you went into the trendy bits of leeds but then again people would acknowledge you rather than putting out this 'i'm incredibly important stay the fcuk out of my way' vibe. where i am now has a tolerable balance but as luton's airport is now 'london luton airport' and i'm only about 20 miles from luton it's getting worse all the time. i see me moving north or west within the next 10 years. cheers julian.
Somehow, the words 'trendy' and 'leeds' don't seem to go well together. It's like saying 'the glamorous parts of Hull' or 'the rough part of Harrogate'
yeaha, I think my kent girlfriend will sope living in a weardale village - she live at lancaster now (student there) and she said it took a while for her to adjust, but she think that everyones strange where i live!! I told of her all villagers are strange and not juts northern ones...sigh...
http://www.harrogatetoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=17&ArticleID=1305019 i'm not saying that leeds is the height of culture, just that it's possible to find a decent coffee there. or it was when i leved nearby. cheers julian.
A day back in the 70s when I was watching Liverpool play at Elland Road, and a two-day business trip in the early 90s. So as you can see I speak from a position of experience!
Though I have a genuine affection for Bristol as I lived there for nearly six years, compared to Leeds, I think Bristol is generally a much poorer city. Leeds seems to have an abundance of cash sloshing around and certain parts of the city reflect this.
You're proabably right. I always think of Birkenhead as being Skid Row, but as I re-discovered on a visit there last week, even Birkenhead has its share of leafy affluent suburbs.
julian it's not just for londoners - even out of town, carrot crunching combine harvester drivers can come -using the money they've saved by not living in an ' overpriced, noxious, ananymous hole ' as you put it, for the fare.
john, so my choices are... 1) drive into the place and get a$$ reped for congestion charges and parking. 2) use the train and risk being smashed into smithereens or cremated in a huge fireball when the driver hits some leaves and falls asleep at his leves whilst drunk. then i'll have breathe soot for 3 hours on the underground. 3) get the bus in and put up with bladdered nutters from glasgow throwing tennants at each other. all so i can watch some large mechanical elephant whilst being slowly crushed by crowds. or 4) go for a nice bike ride and a curry. i think number 4 has it - i'll park me combine up, crunch me carrots and put up with fresh air - it's a tough job but someone has to do it. cheers julian
i don;t live in luton. it's a ****e-hole. i live in a small village surrounded by fields just off the a6. here are some views of what's within 20 minutes easy pedalling. the pics are a bit old now - the place is even nicer lately. how i don;t miss tally ho corner on a friday rush hour. cheers julian
not quite sure how a innocent post about something interesting and free going on in town got to this. something to do with your first post about how s***t london is julian. have you ever actually lived there. it's not as bad as all that by the way nice pictures
