    Hi all,

I usually buy second hand and prefer bargains to maximise my cash. So, just wondering if anyone has heard the fpb300 and fpb600 (in particular this one) and wether there's anything at the price that's as good as these (Pass labs etc.)? Sorry for the general question.
I'm currently using V140 monoblocks from ARC and looking for something more solid state sounding. Of most importance is a huge stereo image and the power amp must be reasonably powerful as I have massive speakers.

    Thanks, Tim

I have the fpb300c at home driving only the low frequencies. I cannot tell you if the Pass Labs are better for full range since I never tested them (it is planned for end of year).
I personally am not a great Fan of Krell for mid-high frequencies and I don't believe that their prices are so great (diplomaticaly spoken). But you can find several bargains, sometimes also for less than half price and then Krells could be interesting.

What really bothers me about any Class T product is the perception that the technology is new and that it moves on quickly, thus you end up with a big monetary loss.

I am aware of these however I know a mate of mine bought one new at trade prices for £1800 so I'd wait if I was getting one of those. People like WM don't like MF and I'd like to hear more of it before I went for that.

Cant see much better than a 7BSST. Just keep buying more of them until you run out of room imo. They're made to last over 20 years under warranty too, which is good to know when there's some serious investment involved. Every model is run at full power for 100 hours non stop before leaving the factory, so they simply dont go wrong in use.

i take your point about T class tech moving on. though if sound/against cost gets much better then all solid state amps will depreciate.

I'm sure the canto's sound good, but will they still be working in 20 years time, or the company even be around?

There's a lot less to go wrong inside a switcher.
But B's are good no getting away from it.

AFAIK, Bryston & Densen are the only companies that offer greater than 5-year warranties. Other need to learn from their example. More power to 'em I say (no pun intended :D )

I've even heard that customers who's 20 year warranty has expired, are still covered. No customer has had to pay up for anything yet, apparently. Wish my car was like that, just had a 2k service?!
