Has anyone tried putting 2 sub bass sytems into their system ?

I have a Rel Stadium 2 and I know of another going cheap, I thought it might be fun if nothing else !

If your room (and neighbours) can take it, why not?

I have 2 15" subs, a velodyne DD15 and a paradigm servo 15", the room is 20x14x8 (ft). It works. The subs are in the corners behind the main speakers. I have a Tact room correction box which eq's the subs..

Dual subs should not shift the tonal balance of the system though, you might get more extension of the lowest octave, and greater headroom at high volumes.

If you're hoping for pounding bass, with the walls shaking then you might be disappointed (then again perhaps I'm used to it and don't notice it anymore :))

I'd say go for it! It's better than wasting money on wire or stands, and you'll probably be able to flog the Rel for what you paid for it if things don't work out (neighbours threaten violence, wife leaves, cat has heartattack etc..)!

I know when set up correctly it should not alterter the sound of the system.

You have said what I thought would happen, just more reinforcement.

I shall give it some thought !

    Thanx

It's almost accepted faith in Linn circles to run two of their 10" subs (Sizmik 10.25) for about the same money as one of their 12"ers (12.45). I agree with the comments about not expecting tonal shift, but ability to get more extension. Another point is that the fan if it has one is less likely to trigger if the same SPL into the listening point is split between two.
