Why selling Chris? only a few weeks ago you were using a PS2 as a transport?, I'm sure this is slightly better I feel

    Upgrading to Sony SACD player.

From what ive heard the the first few battletank Sony SACD players make great transports . Great for tweaks too.

I'm trying to get the front end right before i move onto the amp.

The Tag sounds great, dont get me wrong. Its just that a few of my latest purchases have been Hybrd discs, which after comparing the two layers, i can say that the SACD layer does things i quite like :)

Valves for you my boy, Having access to a full Monty SACD , if you can put up with the forever to load, it should do you well, however remeber you cannot feed DSD through the Dac 64 (yet).
They are plentyful and cheap about the £1400 mark, mind last time you complaining you were skint :D Did you Buy jason Kennady's D 200 then?

No, an amp will come later.

Imagine the total time. first for the CD to read the TOC, THEN the for the DAC to engage(?) its buffer. I could make a brew, get back to the 'hotseat' and put my feet up, all before the music even starts

Just out of interest :D Is it possible to convert/add an AES/EBU output to one of these players (the 777es is only single ended).

    Thanks

    Chris

Chris the correct way do to it, would be to fit a digital output board, that reclocks the outgoing digital data stream, and give 3 possible outputs 1 RCA unclocked, 1 Reclocked and AES clocked, however not cheap. A lot people live with single ended very happily, else purchse a Monarchy/Pet/tec/Assemble/GWP upsampler and smaple rate convertor with muliti format outputs, I believe Mike uses one too good effect. "I believe" ...you sold it to me :D

Works very well and solves the problem of not having AES/EBU output on the tranny.

Just doing the sums of the cost of my T1 + the clock & PSU mods and a few WM tweaks ;) + the Monarchy...comes to rather a lot

Could I have got a better transport for the money? Don't know, and now that I've blown the cash, don't want to know :D

    Michael.

I'm interested Chris, but will have to check financial situation. Do you have any more info on the transport (condition, boxes, manuals, leads etc etc)

I've heard Chris' TAG with the Chord, and can testify to it sounding well. Very well infact. Its in A1 condition also. Nice peice of kit. Solid as a rock, nicely put together and a joy to use. Chris is a top lad too, so no need to worry.
