hi guys, a little nostalgic problem, my dearest and wonderfull wife loves the speakers that i had for the last 19 years, however, these tannoy cheviots that i had renewed sound very good as they always did , as i grew up with all , "well almost all" of tannoy models, back to this dilema, my friends who also grew up wit5h most of the tannoys want me to keep them, my dearest says no, now i love both, but one has to go, i wish i had a big enough place to keep both, but my wife's choice has to remain,
,life is cruel, no maritial comments please.

    Hi Nando

You mention the Cheviots. What are the other pair?

Mmm Cheviots, I had a very fine pair for a while, great speakers.

Build an extension for a second system while Dev has them on loan, then take them back when it's done.

Does anyone know how much these old speakers like Cheviots or Devons were worth when new?

I don't even know if they were supposed to be budget, midange or hi-end designs.....

    Here you go Matt.
I found a couple of full reviews of both models, complete with the price in 1975.

    For reference, an Audiomaster LS3/5A cost £124, a Spendor BC1 cost £205, a Quad ESL £276 and the huge IMF TLS80 £399.

Who'da thunk it? That takes me back.
For as long as I can remember Tannoy DC's got bad reviews in the hifi press.
Dealers were no better, Doug Brady's literally snorted at me when I went in to buy a Supex 901 and mentioned I had Tannoy Lancasters(1976-7).
We know better now don't we? Fcukers-take what reviews say with a pinch or more I say.

Must admit I didn't read those reviews before posting them.
    They really weren't keen!
