Just received in the post this morning
A tax rebate for the princely sum of 0 pounds and 0 pence.

Why the hell do they send out these cheques
    I just don't get it.

It must cost a fortune to make up the cheque and post it

has this happened to any one else in the forum

Why don't you reply, with a photocopy of the cheque, complaining that they've missed a 1 and several zeroes off the beginning ;-)

    robert,
sounds like a reverse of the old superman hacking scam where all the sub penny fractions would be diverted to an account. you've probably been sent a cheque for 0.000001p which got rounded down to 0 and printed. probably 2 separate areas of the program written by different programmers assuming that the other was checking for rounding inconsistencies... i say either frame the cheque or try to cash it and see if you can bring the banking system to a grinding divide by 0 halt.
    cheers

Yeah - that divide by zero thing has happened before at banks - pure class!

Yep thats probably why they do it, its a nice little earner for them. Think about the interest they will make on it too.

I'm sure they dearly wanted to send you a rebate for a decent amount. The trouble is they can't afford to because they need the money to pay that family that was on "Wife Swop" the other night i.e. the ones with 8 kids who get £36,500 per year in benefits!

    Don't get me started....

    :grrr:

Alright you asked for it.... we all pay for their house/upkeep - they then do this - :buddies: all the time, produce EIGHT of these:

    :baby:

And we pay for them too.

On top of this we keep them in these - :MILD: (30 a day for her, 20 for him)

And no doubt a few of these - :guiness:

In spite of all this, their attitude to the tax payer is :NADowner:

    It makes me :chunder:

    Matt.
