OUR SENSES CANNOT BE FOOLED, BUT THE MIND CAN.

The basic survival mecanism of all species in earth is their senses. Even when some species take the shape and the colourotion of a flower in the form of camouflage, they must do it accurately as the insects they are trying to attract only will be so if their senses were able to recognize it as the flower from which they feed themselves.

As humans we must always be able to recognize when something is hot when we touch it, when something is outdated when we taste it, recognize a female when we smell it, recognize when an object is throwed at us when we see it, and finally, recognize the location and size of a sound source when we hear it.

You are fools if you think that you can fight the senses. It is a lost battle, otherwise we all would be dead.

We are learning this everyday with our "Hi-fi". And because the ear is our most powerful and accurate sense this is relentlessly shown to us.

That's why we need accuracy from our "Hi-fi" and we must always demand it.

Music itself is a mental process that evolved as us humans evolved. Ludwig van Beethoven became deaf at the age of thirty, however he was still able to compose equally brilliant music. He only needed to learn the meaning of notes in music while he was able to hear. Music was inside is mind, as it is inside ours, but most of us need someone else to play it.

Listening music through "boxes" is another matter though. To please our mind we must firstly please the ear sense in order to be left only with the music. If the ear detects an unnatural sound pressure your mind will be fooled, as it is presently happening, and therefore it cannot be ultimately pleased.

I keep asking you the same question BD,accurate when compared to what? Your ears may be great but you can still have a fried brain, your ears DO NOT HEAR ANYTHING,your brain does

I will repeat my answer I gave several threads ago,I believe listening to music is an emotional experience, and by seeking 'accuracy' you are simply listening to engineering and not the artist.

When listening to Dylan,do you listen to his lyrics, wonderful voice combined with a distintive guitar style,or do you say nah, this doesn't sound like him,it sounds like Johnny Cash?

Does Bach instill any emotion in you,or do you think he is not that accurate? In fact how do you know your sytem is accurate when you don't know what room Bach first played this particularly piece of music?

its an insane quest, accuracy, and one doomed to fail with many upgrades and a permanent sense that some other kit will do it for you

well put. I tried to say the same on that other thread. when it comes to enjoyment/entertainment, it is a mistake to put too much emphasis on one or another sense, or on objectivism/reductionism. an ear is just an ear, and nose a nose (by any other name). the experience is subjective, a trick of the mind.

But I insist... are you talking about live performances or about recorded music?

Because if you are talking about the first I have no excuse for not liking Dylan and Bach unless I don't like his voice, which is the case with the former, and unless I don't like any of their music interpretations, which is not the case with either.

But tell me... how can a deaf man produce such beautiful music?

if you stop concerning yourself with other peoples expensive tastes (however self pleasing they may be) you would be a happier person.

Do you buy shoes purely for their comfortable walking capabilities? Or do you buy some that also look nice?

stop making your music hobby too puritanical.

    I give up,someone else have a go

ps your answers contradict your original statement,'a deaf man makes wonderful music',the word wonderful is an emotional word, accuracy has nothing to do wit it,becuase he is deaf!

I think you might be on a wind-up now, after that
