By "ones I use" I mean the really cheesy 2-strip disposable razors from Poundland!

I keep meaning to try one of the more modern Gillettes as I had a Mach3 YONKS ago and it wasn't bad - but those prices. 15 2-blade disposables (they look identical to ye olde Gillette Blue 2!) last me ages - for a quid. Cheapskate me I'm afraid!

I like the mach 3...there are certain things I don't buy as I rely on pressies for xmas - socks, slippers, boxer shorts and mach 3 razors... ;)

I have been tempted with permanent hair removal, its a few hundred quid and involves a very strong light that destroyes the hair folacle, I really hate shaving.

know the feeling but I suspect 'hair removed' does not look the same as 'shaved' as there would be no root shadow under the skin. basically you'd look like a eunuch!

In fairness, even if they are, the batteries in an M3 last for ages. I doubt if they account for even a fraction of a percent of Duracell's sales.

The batteries in an M3 do last for ages indeed. On the package they optimistically suggest that for "optimum performance" you change the batteries every 6 months but I've used mine for well over a year on the original set with no noticable change in performance.

but I'd guess the batterys would run down quicker for someone who shaved every day that someone who shaved 3 times a week..?

I do shave every day, and the batteries in mine have lasted well over a year.

Your probably right, but I just go around with stubble most of the time! Unless I'm seeing my girl or going out for the day/night I just live with it.

This thread has made me want to buy one of those battery things now!

I haven't shaved in 38 years. Considering you need to get up 5 minutes early to shave (if you are fast) I have saved 1155 hours of bed time over the period. I don't know what blades cost, but those of you who do know can calculate the cost saving too :D

Which is exactly what puts me off, you can look too smooth which could look femanine which is not good when on the pull  it would also be irreversable! And although you can wear a wig on your head, false beards are not a good idea, although women do like cleanly shaved guys

I can heartily recommend the 3 stage shave from Clinique.Face scrub first (called exfoliant visage),then shave foam, then after shave cream.25 quid and the best shave you will ever get.A bit nerdy, the shaving equivalent of spike shrink, but its genuinely brilliant.

    Ok, I hate shaving cos.
1, I end up looking like freddy Crugger has had a go at me.
2, probbably loose about pint of blood.
    3, make a mess! :)
4, takes too dam long, 10 minutes.
5, all your efforts are wasted by about lunchtime.
    6, hurts like hell.
7, never get a close enough shave no matter what I use.
8, too dam expensive, what foam is about £5 and blades about £7 a month!
9, I have a very expensive Braun eletric shave, gives me a worse shave than the razer.
10, did I mention the cutting problem?

Anyway if you had some sort of cream that killed off the routes, you'd only need to do this once and bang job done, spend more time in bed, never get the Mrs telling you to have a shave everyday.

Can't grow a beard, I'd get sacked, or look like Jesus, anyway one more thing to clean!

Ya that's got to be the way to go, the price is still a little high, they burn it off don't they, saw something about this on telly years ago, come to think of it that's the price of a decent shaver so it could almost justify the price.

    Shaving sucks!
