    What a bunch of arse.

Apparently it gives "Extraordinary insight into the shadows of recordings", whatever they might be. Perhaps they meant "Extraordinary insight into the recordings of The Shadows".

I'll give it a listen if/when I get the chance. I don't have an irrational hatred of MF or worry too much about marketing bullshit.

Isn't the supply of those "NuVista" thingies supposed to be *very limited* and last chancy or something?
It seems miraculous that they can make such a small supply last so long.

That one doesn't use Nuvista's Joel it uses Muvista's a recent exclusive discovery, apparently, I'm with sticky, MF stuff ain't that bad, but some of their claims are a bit on the wild side.

''mu-Vista (6112) tube output stage. Contributes to the exquisite limpid sound. ''

Did they mean to say that?

Am I seeing things or what, limpid sound....sounds just right for mf.

The mf marketing wagon continues unabated. Nice build and all that.

Sadly there are probably loads of different tiny military valves around, so we might be seeing limited mf products for a loooong time :( , now they have found their niche.

Its from the what hifi school of selling, the next product is always the very best.

What pisses me off is the complete lack of regard for existing MF users. Criticising their own few month old NuVista kit (which was "the best" at the time) is obviously going to affect the second hand prices of their kit.

Aggressive marketing or hard sell is one thing but this is complete BOLLOX. I just wish there was a way to just tell them to eff off :grrr: (politely of course :D).

Hehehe nice one bob i like a good laugh in the mornin :D
I have taken this quote from the MF website so you must be right bob :D

    One Man's Vision
Musical Fidelity exists because of one man's passion for music and hi-fi. That man is Antony Michaelson. He's a classically-trained clarinettist with a number of recordings to his credit and his love of music has driven his burning desire to make hi-fi which really sounds like the shadows.

looks like its really pised dev off :)

I have read it carefully, it really is as dev says, they are slagging their own prior stuff off to hype the latest product, so now they have no old ones to sell, they have nothing to lose.

    mf marketing.

1/this 'az' is the best cd player EVER the sheer musicality is astounding.

2/well, we have been working hard, the az was good, but this new bz makes it sound broken, it in our opinion is the best we can do, we have put our all and it shows.

3/some new researd developments have allowed us to totally rededesign our circuit boards and circuits with the result that we have improved again.
This is the best ever, the best ever,

when will it all end? :( :( :(

    What gave it away? :D

I use MF amps, and I know they have produced some very good amps, but changing products so quickly and all this hype doesn't help customer/brand loyalty.

    I know what to do!!

I have a great idea, let's make this scientific.

Lets band together as a forum, and procure products from makers, rather like a mag. for reviews.

We could obtain all of mf's products and put the claims to the test, doing extensive listening tests and asking for evidence for the claims...basis, justification, tests made, results all that.

I think zg is becoming a bit of a minor force in its own way, the mags like plush wouldn't make veiled refs. to the internet if they didn't think it influenced people.

So we could do considered 'objective' write ups and put the claims to the test, in the interest of consumers. And take bribes to give good reviews :D

Why not contact mf for the latest and a nuvista for samples?

Is this not a perfect example of consumer society capitalism? We all want the best, the latest etc, and companies like MF drive our demand for it and sell it to us. So what we want is what we get.

Luckily we on this forum are all too clever to be taken in by this. :D

BTW - that's a nice looking car Dev.... is that the latest beamer?
    ;)

 The worst offense in my book is the one about how being a musician and a lover of music equates to being able to build awesome hifi/cables  You will read this rubbish from nearly every company out there. If this were true, then I would be able to build the best CDP in the world simply because I have a strong passion for music...I have trouble building things with instructions, let alone starting from scratch.

I'm glad there are sites like this were a good portion of people see through the bullshit, even if people like Roy Gregory would like to paint us as a bunch of drooling, retarded conspiracy theorists for questioning the hifi status quo - see last several copies of HiFi+ for his thoughts on this (started with that dreadful review of the Nordost mains cables, though I'm sure you are all aware of this). His worst offense though was to print an insultingly negative review in the last issue of some absolutely tiny cable company which nobody has probably heard of, and with next to no advertising dollars for him, to somehow placate people into believing he is finally doing his job properly. Nice try RG but no cigar :p
