Looking forward to this, they're one of my favourite groups. Most pop and indie music, even if it's decent, bores me after a few listens nowadays, but The Three EPs and Hot Shots II are still fantastic records, no matter how often I play them. Their first album is rubbish, however, as the group themselves are happy to admit.

Some of the spin offs are worth exploring, King Biscuit Time:

    and Lone Pigeon:

Ordered "The 3 EPs" off amazon the other day. Been meaning to buy some of their stuff ever since I heard a track by them in the film of "High Fidelity" - I believe that track is on "The 3 EPs". Looking forward to listening to it when I get back to Lisbon on Friday :)

3 EPs has been on heavy rotation in chez car for a week or 2. Apart from 1 track (which is more like noise-mess) I really like it..

Have just bought Hot Shots II on the above reccomendations!
    It arrives in 1-2 weeks.
    :)

    YAY!

    That's the spirit!!!

Big fan of the Beta Band! Got all their albums and posters and a tattoo on my nuts!

Well, maybe not. But I like their albums a lot and the new one if one I'm looking forward to.

I think I first heard them on the Breezeblock (radio 1) years ago and got into them then. Is the breezeblock still going? Might be worth getting a tuner for alone!

Like Ian, these are albums I never tire of.

    ..............and no pizza for them!

I have all thier stuff on vinyl...
    Champion Versions 12" EP
The Patty Patty Sound 2x12" EP
Los Amigos Del Beta Bandidos 12" EP
    To You Alone/Sequinsizer 12"
Beta Band Double LP (it's not that bad, just not as good as the rest!)
Hot Shots II Double LP (and the three 12" singles released off of it)

The best stuff in my opinion is the 1st and 3rd EPs and the last LP, needless to say I am greatly looking forward to the new single and LP.

King Biscuit Time is Steve Mason and he has released two excellent EPs so far, Lone Pigeon is Gordon Anderson who was in the band for the 1st EP but has now 'done a Syd Barrett' and gone prolifically solo.

I think the BB song on the Hi-Fidelity soundtrack is 'Dry The Rain' from the 1st EP.

Certainly is - watched it again last night .
Shame they deleted the best scene [Book and Film, IMO] where the wife is selling the husbands vinyl collection. Ouch.
