BAR have decided not to contest the ban.
That's true, but ferrari with the barge board "mistake" seem to get away with things like this, the rules and enforcement of them are too vague and too inconsistent, either the stewards or FIA should enforce3 the rules, if the race officials decided to take no further action there was no need for the fia to become involved. Is this bernimaxes way of ensuring button at williams next season, due to performance clause in his contract?
probably. Ferrari should have been booted out too. The whole caboodle is utterly corrupt and the sooner it disappears the better. Bob
I think the sooner they get rid of bernie and max, it will be better, basically ATM they have too many chiefs and not enough indians, should be SLEC, FIA or Race officials making descisions, not all 3.
Well I've read the FIA submissions and the BAR submissions and I see no evidence for 'they were cheating'. What do you know that they don't? How were they cheating? Paul
I've been too busy to follow this too closely, I'm a fan of F1, but the rules say car should weigh 600KG w/out fuel, if they emptied all the fuel and car weighed less then the rules were broken, Cheating suggests deliberatley doing wrong, I doubt they deliberately did it, they were bending the rules and got caught, shame really I reckon loss of imola points and monetary fine woulda been enough, makes a farce of the championship, to exclude potenbtioal front runners. I reckon Bernie wants button to go to williams or Ferrari, and is using this opportunity to Knobble bar re buttons performance cause.
They were asked to empty the car of fuel They said they had The car was then found to have a tank within a tank with several litres of fuel in it They were cheating
The rules say that the car and driver must weigh in excess of 600kg during the event, which is the qualifying and race. They also say you cannot use fuel as ballast, so it's reasonable to expect the car to weigh 600 at the point where it starts to run out of fuel. The BAR cars met this weight. Paul
You have offered ignorant hearsay not evidence. The BAR and FIA submissions are publically available, why not review them? Paul
But a car is only as fast as its tyres allow it to go. So, if Bridgestone can't get it's four little contact patches to work properly (and the signs have been building since early last season that it's not as good at it as is Michelin), end of Schumacher Era. Ferrari had to come back to earth sometime. I'm surprised at how quick and extreme has been the change.
