I discovered Karine Polwart's celtic folk recently and was blown away by her first album, Faultlines. Her lyrics are poignant, powerful and meaningful and the melodies haunting.

I saw her live last night at The Mechanics Institute in Burnley. A fabulous, faultless performance from this already accomplished singer.

Both album`s are lovely. The first album "Faultlines" is the stronger of the two, but you will still find much of her magic in evidence on the new album "Scribbled in Chalk". For me the best track is "Baleerie Baloo", an extraordinary song which sends shivers down your spine.

Karine is a beautiful vocalist and this is not a run-of-the-mill folk album. Like Nick Drake, she has a uniqueness which can captivate and hold you in a moment. Her lyrics are subtle and divine and with each listening you will find more and more in them.

Try this singer....and discover the magic for yourself.

Glad somebody else appreciates Karine Polwart:) First picked up on her after she won a Radio 2 Folk Award in 2005. Both albums are really good and agree Faultlines is the better. Now if I could only get them on vinyl ;)

I have seen her live twice both times in the same small venue, she really is magical.

    She is excellant VL.

Funny you should talk about getting her albums on vinyl, I was just about to email her web site to ask if they are available and if so where. Or if they are not then why not?

If i get a positive response I will post here.
