    Hi Guys,

I am very pleased to be making this post, after well over a year of development, announcing a brand new product from AudioSmile - A super compact, luxury speaker called the Kensai. :D

There was a small previous mention on the forum, as AudioSmile will be exhibiting at the Audio & AV Show 19th-21st September to 'birth' this new baby.

I have just updated the website with full details of the speaker, including a comprehensive set of measurements and some nice photos.

    Please take a look - http://www.audiosmile.com/kensai.htm

The Kensai is designed to compete with, and beat, the best currently available mini speakers from the likes of Sonus Faber, Penaudio, Eben, etc. Each pair of Kensai is built by hand from start to finish by myself; the designer. They will be sold direct from AudioSmile, allowing a comparatively low price of £1799. If a firm order is placed at the Audio & AV Show, there will be a discount of £300!

There will be a home trial scheme, run at the cost of shipping, so that potential customers may hear the Kensai in the ideal surroundings - their own home.

    Thanks for the good wishes.

    Kevin,

The AML1 is not really a competitor simply because it is so much bigger. But in many ways they are alike. I think if you took the 'ratio' of size to bass capability the AML1 posses and scaled it down, then added some extra refinement you would get the Kensai.

I'll do my best :) I've been in contact with Hi-Fi World and Paul Messenger, but nothing is set yet. I hope to see them both at the show and discuss further once they have heard them.

I'd like to think he's not gone awol but is in a training camp, deep in the woods. He'll be smashing logs, running whilst shadow-boxing and (obviously) chasing a chicken around in order to improve mobility in the demo suite. If so then he will no doubt emerge ready to smash up the guy from UKD and that other company, thus winning the war of the mini-monitors.

Oh yes and good luck too I hope they do well, they certainly look good.

What does Kensai mean? I presume the speaker is not named after a brand of lamb wool

    or a game character.

Lol, what game is that? Well there are two similar words in Japanese and when written in roman characters are sometimes confused. The more common Kensei means sword saint. Someone who is rather skillful with the sword.

Kensai as this speaker is called, means gifted, of great ability or authoritative. Its usual used to refer to a person, rather than an object but never mind!

And then there's Kansai - Japan's largest prefecture... Anyway, advance congratulations on what I'm sure will be an impressive product, Simon. I look forward to hearing it at the Heathrow show and catching up with you. p
