Well it seems I was right about this small band from LA who were playing tiny venues in Manchester when I made this thread (check the date).

I'm listening to the album right now. I like the first 4 tracks and tracks 9 and 10. Track 10 is early Duran Duran! Not too sure about the rest of it.

Certainly overrated but an enjoyable enough listen.

Overrated is an understatement! OK, it's enjoyable to listen to but it's just a re-hash of a bunch of 80s music with very little originality.

I think the big difference though the Killers seem to be appealing to a younger generation (18-30) year olds who where born in the 80's and grew up with that kind of music but were too young to know any of it.

I think the ablum is more inovative than a lot of stuff that has come out last year, certainly no less inovative than Keane. The Killers just seem to have almost cult status at least around the clubs in Manchester. The same can be said about the Libertines as well.

The killers were played quite a bit in Dublin too.

I would say Franz Ferdinand is less original than the Killers. I like FF but it does sound very sladey.

think theres a trend at the mo with how wonderful the 80s were, youve just got to look at those feckers the darkness to see that . had they released that album in the 90s it would have bombed, big time..
