I've not heard it either, but I want to check it out - either they realy are that good (universally excellent reviews) or its a bunch of hype.

I saw them live the other month when they played support for Doves at Rock City and I thought they were rather good ... admittedly most of the audience didn't, but hey what would they know.

I picked up the vinyl version yesterday and love it for what it's worth - purchased tickets for the forthcoming tour last night, too. Excellent songs and sound - reminds me in places of a slightly more melodic Kings Of Leon(which you may or may not think is a good thing), at other times it makes me think of the Byrds, but at the same time they definitely have something all of their own going on.

Vinyl version is nicely put together, too, and mine came with a bonus 1 sided 7" as well as a free poster from the independent shop I got it from. I notice that HMV are doing it for £10.99 online, which seems like a good deal.

Like Uncle, I saw them supporting the Doves this time at Manchester, and I thought they were rather splendid, as did most of the people watching. Definitely a band that could do well. They left everyone with a smile on their faces.

I've not heard the album, only the single.... Forever Lost?

    Bag o' shite IMO

Some hints of being capable of something decent, but nah, pretty poor I think.

    Maybe just a bad single?

Hmm.....heard the single. A lot of hype Ithink. Can't help finding a comparison with The Thrills. Easy listening but ultimately without much long (or even medium) term interest.

I bought it and really like it, but then I like Keane, The Doves and Oasis, who all seem to be to popular to enjoy critical acclaim!

PHEW! That saves me some money then - if it's as dull as The Thrills, I could save myself £7.49 and snooze for an hour!

I'm hoping someone I know'll buy it so I can hear it first - if it's anything like a "slightly more melodic Kings of Leon" it'll be a total waste - I got their first album on double 10inch vinyl and I've played it once - it bored the arse off me!

Anyone want it - for a fiver plus postage... Maybe I could try playing it again first though??

I bought it the other weekend and love it. Why not go to amazon.com or 101cd.com and listen to the very poorly encoded mp3's? At least that will let you know what's to be expected before you buy it.....

I was lucky enough to see them play at the Truck festival on Sunday evening and they were great! I'll be ordering the album shortly :) .

Saw them play two songs live on Gonzo on MTV2 last night and I thought they were really good. Two of the band are men, two are women : all three singers can sing well, and they play melodic and pleasing songs. I will definitely buy the CD/record. Obviously I haven't heard the whole LP, but my first impressions are that comparing them to the Thrills is a bit wide of the mark...I don't know an awful lot about the Byrds so can't say whether they sound like them or not. They just sounded good to me.

    I'm afraid I'm with Mo...
Jangly indie boys who haven't yet learned to play their guitars properly imho.
Perhaps a low-rent Byrds, who I also never liked.

But then I never like music where the singing is basically the whole of it - any guitars/bass/drums etc are just strummed at the root and exactly on the beat meaning there's no excitement, or edge, or balls...
Sounds like a duff busker on the tube to me!

On the relatively few songs I've heard they sounded like they could play their instruments pretty well, not that that's a prerequisite for being any good, of course.

Shame they don't have enough balls for you, each to their own. To me they sound summery, fresh and different, hope I don't feel let down when I get the record.

    Yours ever
