I found this and I'd like to know what amendments others make to this PFM List?

Is there such a thing as a good guitar solo?
Aren't they the most pointless rock-cliche ever?
Does anybody, but other wannabe 'guitar heroes' actually appreciate them?
Don't you usually think 'stop wanking your guitar and get on with the tune you poodle-haired, coked up dickhead' when the guitar starts to gently wail?

    err no.

am I a 'wannabe guitar hero' ? maybe

solos whether guitar, sax or any lead instrument are key to the song itself in so many cases...

    The following spring to mind..

    the solo's in..

    1) another brick in the wall (flloyd)
    2) little wing (hendrix)
    3) baker street (gerry rafferty) (sax solo)
    4) Resurrection (stone roses)

Also, the line between rhythm, lead and purely an instrumental part of a track are so blurred that its sometimes hard to differentiate. Take the 2nd half of 'resurrection' (above) as an example... an instrumental, lead guitar or rhythm?

Oh please, please may I never ever hear that song (especially the solo) again :D . It ranks alongside the sax solo from "Careless Whisper" IMO :chunder:

Dave Mason - if it's the same person, played on Fleetwood Mac's 'Time' album, released in 1995. A very underrated album, IMHO.

As for Toto and Foreigner, have to say I'm a fan of both bands.

Well, that '50 worst' list sucks. As the guys responding on the BB point out, many of the entries don't have solos on them. They have short lead breaks, riffs, bridges, etc.

Agreed, but you could say the same for "Careless Whisper" :D
