    Or these people didn't listen to properly installed Linn at all and simply repeat fashionable net opinion...
    Or these people are deaf...

    And worst equipment... My vote goes to Sonus Fabers.

    I have heard lp12s setup by linn themselves - it doesnt make any difference to the core sound - which is limited by construction even if the setup is perfect. All decks benefit from proper setup or suffer if incorrectly setup.

    Re Linn bashing

    I purchased my LP12 in 1982 and at that time I really felt that it was about the best I could could find , I kept it spinning for a number of years and was realy happy with it even when paying for the Linn recommended upgrades. In 1996 I moved house and did not really have space for a deck and so left it in its box where it has remained for most of the time . I got it out in June 2006 and it did not stand up to my rather humble Arcam CD82 - albeit that it probably needed a bit of a service . I shall get it out in 2007 and get it serviced properly but in truth I do not think the deck will stand the test of time.

    But I am still pleased I bought it and will keep it.

    I don't quite agree....sorry missed that one, how is it elitist?

    putting down other peoples stuff is i'd have thought basically negative/non productive

    Late reply(so what's new). "Worst proper hi-fi " is the newest oxymoron. I think this thread is " almost unique" .Well, there goes another one!

    I've not heard anything that was really bad, everything has its shortcomings, rooms, setup,owners prefernece.
