I've just received a rather basic email from an ebay customer saying:

I still haven't received the lens cleaner.

There is no auction number or anything on it but I remember the name and the item was shipped out about 3 or 4 weeks ago. If the person did not recieve it then they should have let me know after a few days.

I don't even have a record of this auction now as it was more than 30 days ago. What is my legal situation? I can't offer any money back as I don't know how much it was or anything if he can supply the auction number then I should have a record of it on my accounts spreadsheet.

I suppose I shall need to ask him what the auction number was then I can check to see if this auction actually happened. I am guessing if this is genuine somthing may have got lost in the post.

The thing I don't get is why wait for more than a month to tell me this?

Do you not store the emails that ebay send you in relation to each sale? The auction number will be on there :)

Most of them are stored but not all them, I am getting 50 emails a day on that account now.

Alternatively, if you have already left feedback for the buyer, go into the feedback section of your ebay page, specifically to the 'Review and Respond to Feedback I have left about others' section - it's a bit laborious, but you can search through the last 90 days feedbacks and find it this way.

    Hope that helps.

Always get a free 'Certificate of Posting' when sending small value items. It includes insurance cover for upto £10, I think.

Also, it is proof that you sent the item.
