And the best website Hyperfi after so many years without could come up with is this:

    http://www.hyperfi.co.uk/

Don't they realise that not having an online shopping style website is loosing them custom. I don't ever shop at Hypefi because its in Essex, and the only way to can order stuff is to speak to rude staff just to speak to you like you are stupid and say "errr its not in stock".

At least with RS they have some kind of online ordering facility and there are shops in most major cities/towns.

Acoustic Arts hasn't even got a website. A serious oversight if you ask me.

    Hmmm....whats this then:

    http://www.accusticarts.de/pages/en/main_fr.html

...the spelling of Acoustic (Accustic) caught me out the first time too...but to quote from the site:

"ACCUSTIC ARTS is a short form ACCUrate acouSTIC ARTS which boils down to the art of having the right authentic sound"

    Hi Michael,

I think Robbo is refering to the hifi shop Acoustics Arts. This is in Watford.

Shops not having websites are losing out IMO. My dealer does very good trade from their website.

I found their phone manner to be poor too! Put me on hold while checking on stock availability. Came back to the phone after a few mins and gave a blunt "no". I could hear the person on the other end of the phone chatting away to someone else casualy, I don't think they even checked on stock availability. When I asked on an alternative product I got along the lines of "we're shutting soon, best phone in the MOrning". I've been in there a couple of times too. Was like walking onto the set of a western. All goes quiet and the give youi the once over before continuing.

Some of the prices they advertise seem reasonable though.

I had a really poor experience with Hyperfi back when I started out. They were advertising a really good price on the Sony '900 CD player. I phoned and checked they had one in stock, asked them to hold it and sent a cheque the same day. A fortnight later, wondering why I hadn't recieved anything, I gave them a call to find out what was happening, only for them to deny ever having recieved my cheque (despite it having been cashed). A week of daily calls and they admitted they had recieved the cheque, but that they had none of the Sony CD players left in stock. I really should have put my foot down at this point, but the salesman on the other end of the 'phone spent 10 minutes convincing (at the time very gullible) me that the new '510 was just as good as the '900 and that I should just get them to send me one of those instead - which is what I did :-(
I often wonder what would have happened if I got the '900 when I was supposed to :)

I am not sure what the 900 was if it was an early version of the 930 then I doubt it was as good as the 510. I've got a 530 and am very happy with it but its still a budget cd player. Its no 6000OSE or CDP940

Well at least it diplays OK on Opera 2.1 [840KBytes]. I notice a worring number of websites that screw up explorer 4 - why? whats wrong with HTML that it has to be screwed with? I make a habit of reffering sites to websitesthatsuck.com - the only place that seems to be keeping the web rational.

I think every business should have a website, with up to date catalogue and prices - but why must they have online trading? Whats wrong with ringing up? It's a bit sad if we have to talk to computers only..
