Evenin' all! Something strange has occurred at technobear towers. My hifi has gone missing and been replaced by one with a vastly greater amount of detail (especially in the bass it seems) and also far more groove. Not to mention less sibilance and more 'tinkle' to cymbals.

Of course this could have something to do with a new toy that was added to the system on Friday, namely a Trichord Research Powerblock 1000 (thanks Tone ;) ).

    It's like having a new hifi :)
Not to mention a new CD collection

For the technically minded, the wall socket is connected to an Olson Sounds Fantastic! power brick. This feeds the sub and the Trichord, each via Eupen 05/04 cables. The Trichord then feeds the CD and amp via Eupen 05/2.5 cables. I know other permutations are possible but I don't have time tonight - big pile of ironing to do

Damn this is good! It's not getting the ironing done though. I keep putting the thing down to listen

I found out on Friday exactly what Tony means by 'thwack'. I never thought my system was lacking in thwack, but it sure as hell has a lot more of it now.

Chris, glad your settling in to new levels of thwack & bass involvement. The power blocks do work pretty well with a wide varitey of kit, so Techobear towers is 'rockin in the free world that bit better tonite. T.

This is doin' my head in to think that my system had this much unrealised potential. And for so little outlay.

For all those out there who doubt the words of certain afficianados of tuning and tweaking, a word to the wise. Sort out your mains chaps ;)

I don't doubt what you're hearing Chris but I would say the powerblocks are at best system dependent. A 500VA Powerblock made absolutely zero difference in my system (and I tried it with all sorts of connection permutations). I also already use Eupens and Olson distribution blocks.

    Michael.

Having a separate spur is certainly a big one for Naim gear, highly recommended. Tanais Fox found the same for his completely non-Naim gear.

Which? The booze the drugs or the sex? Have you led a sheltered life or what?

Try all three ... I'm sure you'll not regret it :MILD:

Hey Chris - how much is "very little outlay" out of interest.
I'm looking at getting somesort of mains distribution thing and the more options the better.
    Cheers
