I like them, and use them at shows to demonstrate amplifiers. People either seem to love them or hate them.
I find the immaging very good and room placement easy. They can reveal weekness else where in the system though. They can be slightly bright in some systems so avoid use with a lively front end or amp. In the right system they can be very rewarding if they are to your tonal taste.

The little arc's are nice & produce a sound well above their looks,Discoveries never impressed me, but a lot of guys like them. Act 2's in some systems really fly, others well, try something else and dont pair with chord amps!!
The Bishops hummm don't go there. Used can be had a for a bargin, Audio T were chucking out the older act's not so long back for a steal.
I had the Act 2's for a few months, with the right supporting cast can bring a smile to your face

I use arc's for my amp development work they're a very nice revealing speaker, and a snitch at the price.

    "dont pair with chord amps!!"

I didn't want to say that.... but the combination just doesn't work !!!

They cost about 3 grand don't they  Hardly a snitch. They'd better be damned good at that price. You can get a pair of ATC Active 20's for less!

I heard these at the show last week (in Chris's room, as it happens). Thought they sounded very good. Not a million miles from ATC I thought, would like to hear them up against a pair of Active 20s (which, interestingly, they visually resemble too).

they are still on my shortlist but they may not have everything i want but this will only be known when i demo them......

always fancied the WB's so really just getting opinions etc. before the serious demo-ing/looking for a pair to buy begins.......

which ever speaker i buy i want to keep for at least 5/8 yrs so best to get something i want and will be happy with now, rather than getting a stop-gap speaker which i'll just keep looking to replace..

The ARCs are £2475 in a standard finish e.g. the black/silver. Ex-demo they tend to be £1800-£1900.

The piece I quoted was talking about the Arcs being a snitch and it is they that cost towards the £3000 mark - actually £2576 from Audio Excellence.

I take it the Discoverys cost £5500. Their performance had better be truly astonishing for that price :D

The only times I have heard the Discoveries, the bottom end has seemed very strange indeed, somewhat detatched and haing a distinct character. Probably a room issue - but it has happened more than once.

I like the Arcs though - excellent little speaker if you are pushed for space.

Me - prefer something a little larger :D

I have Disco's in polymer and love them.

I tried boxes from Dynaudio, Lumley, Sonus Faber, Martin Logan and a few others but the Discoveries won through on making music thats just enjoyable.

They have fantastic resolution, scale larger that it has any right to be and, in my opinion, the best focus and imaging I've heard at almost any price.

Only downer really is the connectors which are not really that great for £5500 speakers!

The best thing about them though, is that they are totally addictive to listen to and make it so much fun to spin discs. I think the word I'm looking for is that they boogie!!!
