Am I the only person who is getting fed up with the constant thread derailment? I know some discussions will wander off topic naturally but lately it seems that many threads have been jackknifed deliberately, which is shame IMHO.

Best practive is to use the report post function.

If we aren't aware you have specific concerns, we cannot act.

You're not the only getting sick of it. We all know what the solution is!

Perhaps members should be very quick to click the "Report" button when they see a post they consider "offside".

It strengthens the hands of the Mods.

its very sad that small number of members continue to think that they know best ...and that everyone else is required to roll over and acquiesce to their perceived wisdom ...

now if we were sheep that might work [still unacceptable imo ]

you have only to mention of topics certain topics .........like cables or infact ny of the aspects that make hifi an individual experience , for them to come howling out the wood work !

like the recent perspex debacle ...where the very interesting thread was deliberately disrupted by repeatedly saying plastic ...

from where I sit it shows the limited mental acumen and there associated short sightedness not mention closed minds ....of some contributers.

its should be obvious that if corrected you then continue to use the objected too phrases ...then its clear the offensiveness is being continued if not extended in a deliberate manner ....

The mods need to step in much earlier and warn the miscreant ...say with a yellow card warning ....[seems to work elsewhere] before a final red card and early bath ...

I think I still have blue speckles in my knee from falling off the swing into the gravel. Or it might have been the "tea pot lid" I fell off - that was the inverted cone made in tubular steel and loosely suspended from a pole. The base of the cone had a wooden seat around its perimeter. They were great fun.

Now we are into thread drift.

Yes. I was caught in a snow drift once. And I used to be good with a needle and thread, but my eyes are not what they used to be and now I can barely pass a camel through the eye of a needle these days.

It wasn't like that back when those nice Kray brothers were running things. They were the gentlemen of murder, they was.

You gave in to the temptation. I'd been so pleased with myself for resisting.

if you insist on making irrational posts, rewriting science in your own image and being abusive to other members what do you expect?

Long may they continue to come howling and challenge this stuff.
Challenging the seemingly irrational and unproven is healthy and welcome - so long as it stops short of personal insults.
People can espouse the claimed benefits of cables, spikes, green ink, lathes, vinyl demagnetisers etc etc here on ZG until the cows come home - but they should expect incoming.

If someone cannot defend their position wrt to strong opinions or claims about certain products, and appear to be cornered, I'm afraid thats just too bad. Moderators aren't going to intervene in such situations.
If the abuse starts flying and someone is being subjected to personal attack, then yes of course moderators can (and do) intervene.

Just gone back and looked - I can still view it.
Seems it was directed at another place.
I don't post there or visit, so pass.

    Yes, so I see.

I said to Chris (Bottleneck) earlier, I wonder if we still have a forum by the time I get home tonight :)

Your forum has been quite safe, but I think (EDIT) Dev has been a little heavy handed, but I understand why - I had a day I felt I needed to make a few points as they were very pertinent as to what has been happening with the sudden arrival of *the WW gang*. Problem is I cannot make them without naming the *other* forum and its members, but I think the relevent posts stayed up long enough for the people I wanted to read them to read them.

So let me know when the pair of you are are off for other little jollies ;)

How self centred can you get - you were the only one missing, and you are a permanent fixture of diss, not an opportunist vulture.

How curious! my post was between #6 and#7, part of it refering to school playground behaviour, so the following posts are refering to playgrounds. Can you see it still there or has it been binned and dissapeared.

But the main posts were removed from the Scalford thread, but that still seems to make some sense.
