We're disregarding the Currently spinning thread.

AT, what are your first impressions? Did they look for new approaches? :)

I've heared a bit of it before, its hard to tell, I am not going to bother comparing to their earlier stuff but I am not sure how it compares to Get Ready, I think so far its typicaly New Order, some duff tracks with some great ones.

There is some very catchy songs on there, but a few tracks sound awful. I like the ones with Ana from the Scissor Sisters they seem to work well.

I don't think it as good as the Killer's Hot Fuss or the Bravery's new album though. However I think it will grow on me.

I find the bass a tad wooly, but it may be because most my New Order albums are on 12" but this on CD.

Also it does sound very New Order, I first heared one of the tracks in Music Zone last week and I knew straight away it was New Order before I even heared any vocals.

gave some lp's a clean with the knosti i bought off AK on hifi choice forums.

    listenend to:-

    Pink Floyd's The Wall
    ZZ Top Eliminator
    Floyd's The Final Cut
    Donald Fagan The Nightfly
    Thomas Lang Scallywag Jazz

the last 2 were especially dirty and full of static, but a few mins with the knosti brought them up fabboo. Played like new. much recommended :)

    Thanks AT,

I will check out soon. Get Ready needed some time to get adjusted to it, but it sounded (sounds) fresh and energetic and the features of Gillispie and Billy Corgan mingled well with their house sound.

Given its release date, your really fast with a comment.
Saw your previous post on that album in which you refer to 'an 1980's formula'. Does it remind then of the likes of New order, George and Andy, the Replacements or W. Houston?

Yeah I bought it yesterday morning from Fopp where it was £3 cheaper than HMV. I think the sound is very New Order perhaps a bit more so than Get Ready. it isn't really like Technique as some of the press have said, I think it sounds a lot like singles they were releasing before Technique though so 1985-1988.

It is growing on me quite a bit now, a lot of the music that electornic either, there are a lot of guitars in there, iut reminds me a little bit of the Lightening Seeds for reason.
