Was looking at 'digger' videos on YouTube with my son and thought this was funny.

    Why not?

Mind you, I still think that driving a Nissan D21 pickup across the English channel is a lot more impressive than running over small vehicle with a big vehicle. :D.

Well my son laughed at it (but he's only 3). I must share his sense of humour :D

Agreed, crushing an ant with a sledge hammer doesn't seem like much of a challenge.

I can why a 3 year would find it funny and as Andy says he has to find it funny:D.

I've seen this sort of thing done before but have never seen the poor "victim" end up this squashed flat (I think they took the engine out first).

Tyres for those big trucks cost a fortune and there must have been some danger of popping one doing that. I'd like to see J. Clarkson driving that big truck.

Sod JC, I'd like to drive one of those monsters:D.

Did you see any of JC's Extreme Machines? He may well have driven something equally outrageous. I liked the one he did is Iceland, where he was a passenger in a high powered jeep climbing an almost vertical climb, apparently it gave him a backache.

I don't care how big that truck is, it takes gutts to drive flat out over a full size utility.

How did he know he would go over it rather than just knock it out of the way?

Seems completely stage managed...e.g. removing the engine so it squashes flat.

Well, since you ask, because it is (IMV) totally unnecessary destruction.

Would it have been fouund it funny if it was YOUR vehicle?

Lighten up David, I think you are taking it far too seriously. I don't think they destroyed any individual's car. It was obviously staged, they took the trouble of taking the engine out (unless thieves did that:D).

I imagine that the lads setting this up thought they were saving the car wreckers a bit of work.

They probably got one of the diggers to bury the evidence as well.

I think this was done as a part of a safety video, and there are shots from several angles (I saw it last week). The driver claims that in the course of driving around a normal minesite (i.e bumps & ruts), he wouldn't have thought too much about the bump, if he noticed it at all. It's quite old.

Can't see it on this angle, but I think there's a red line marked along the route, because he missed it the first time!

The tyres do indeed cost an absolute fortune & there's a bit of a shortage right now, so I doubt Top Gear could get there hands on one!
They build the trucks next door to where I work.
