What claptrap - if you'd been reading Clarkson's stuff for the last 20 years maybe you'd realise this. Clarkson has probably spawned more immitators (of both his writing and presenting style) than anyone.

Chris Morris is a comedy genuis in his own right but Clarkson pre-dates him by some number of years. Anyway, I've never considered the two comparable anyway.

Clarkson maintains a persona (whether it be real or invented is hard to say) but Chris Morris was the first on UK TV and Radio to employ such a sociopathic approach to humour AFAIR. Since then Clarkson has become more orientated toward this style and I believe its connected.

Clarksons appeal is due to his anti-pc 'angry old man' style of journalism. With Chris Morris, you do have to think a bit more, imho.

I'm only drawing a comparison between Clarkson's irreverence and that aspect of Morris which is in turn emulated by Brooker. I think Clarkson has become more courting of disapproval since Morris. Other than that they are of course incomparable.

I think it's pretty obviously a joke, in the spirit of Jonathan Swift's A Modest Proposal. It made me laugh, anyway. At no stage did I think he was being serious.

The connection between coruscating satire of the Chris Morris school and Jeremy "Irritating Twat" Clarkson complete eludes me, however.

Nothing more than Clarkson trying to court strong reaction by appearing to be a touch sociopathic, in my view, as a result of seeing others such as Chris Morris achieve notoriety. There is no comparison directly between them other than Clarkson's attempts to be clever and scathing.

Ian you must admit Booker, whilst amusing, has generally tried to emulate Morris, albeit they now collaborate together.

As a parent myself, I think Charlie Booker is absolutely correct.

It's bad enough these selfish people produce offspring in Charlie's part of the world, let alone commit the crime of appearing in public without large doses of tranqualiser drugs on hand lest the little rug rats make a murmer. It's absolutely appaling.

Of course the ultimate solution is...well.. you know. But that brings with it it's own set of problems. Without a next generation Charlie will have to forego the jiggly pleasures afforded a middleaged man on an expenses trip to the local lapdancing bar - Oh hang on...Guardian Journalists (rethinks) - forego the pleasure of a lithe young rentboy paid for on the company credit card. But these are the sacrifices one has to make to have ones cafes with capitalised names.

Now, if we could just do something about... ;)
