i've just joined the forum after reading for a while, and after following some great recommendations here i thought it only fair to offer my own. i'm surprised i haven't seen any talk of it (and can't even find it in the search!)

if u like chilled, mellow beats with a touch of class you definitely HAVE to check out tosca! start with 'suzuki' and then try 'suzuki in dub' - a fantastic combo.

it's fairly popular stuff (tosca being one half of the fantastic kruder & dorfmeister) so i'm sure many here already have it, otherwise take my advice and give it a go- it's excellent.

    Never heard of it

I've only one K&D album and hardly ever listen to it. Just didn't really seem to do anything for me at all. Not played it for a while so perhaps it's time to give it another go.

    Hi

I have this on CD. Not bad. I'm have heard a track off Tosca's 'Chocolate Elvis'. It sounded very good on vinyl. But I understand that album is full of remixes of Chocolate Elvis.

They have done a few albums which may be worth a listen. Delhi 9 being the most recent one.

Tosca are Richard Dorfmeister & Rupert Huber.

funny, i have peace orchestra as well but never really got into it, tho i really love suzuki. i had a bit of trouble getting into to the simplistic sounds on peace orchestra

haven't got delhi 9, but it's on the list. i've never come across chocolate elvis, though i do have 'different tastes of honey' (mixes of honey from suzuki), which is very groovy indeed

nightmares on wax anyone? gotta love car boot soul...

    Hi,

I'm interested in Nightmares on Wax. I have their first few 12" singles which they released on Warp in the late 80s.

I must admit I don't have many albums by them but I have heard most of them.

I liked Carboot Soul which is an interesting & involving album. I do have a copy of Mind Elavation which is not as good. It's patchy in parts but it does have it's moments.

I have Chocolate Elvis and it's great for the first few tracks then it's filler IMHO.. Peace Orchesta are pretty decent but if that's your stuff try Thievery Corporation.. The richest man in Babylon is superb as is Nightmares on Wax Smokers Delight and also another corker is Charles Webster..Born on the 24th of July

All IMHO just in case you don't like em...

bent, bonobo, fila brazillia, quantic, lemon jelly and baby mammoth also come to mind if people are digging this kinda stuff. baby mammoth have a new one just out (octo muck??) but i haven't heard it or much about it

So much quality music being mentioned in one thread!

sg, there's a ninja tunes thread on here somewhere, may have sunk onto page two now (perhpas before you joined the forum), have a look in the deep dark archives!

I got "Delih9" by Tosca on the recommendation of a friend but haven't heard any of their other stuff. Delhi9 is pretty good - it's 2 CDs and the 2nd one is just some really laid back solo piano stuff - a bit odd but might be good if you were stoned :D

Will definitely have to check out "Suzuki"...

Kruder & Dorfmeister are excellent aswell. Haven't got much of their stuff though beyond the DJKicks collection they did. Also like Thievery Corporation aswell of course :) but haven't heard of all the others listed apart from Bent (got both albums).

sg[uk] - you have to check out Gotan Project (La Revancha del Tango), it's one of my faves at the moment - a wicked record.

Seems I really like the same kind of downtempo stuff as you (and joolsburger) - cool :respect:

So, for another recommendation in the same vein I'd suggest "Waltz for Koop" by Koop, excellent stuff aswell.

    Michael.

I dont like it much, they use several tracks that are already on everyday, just remixed a bit. I kind of expect to hear new material when I buy a new album.

wow, so many like-minded people here

mo!: i did see part of the ninja thread before, i was pleased to see herbaliser come up a lot. i was lucky enough to catch the whole band live at essential last year and it's only made me like their stuff even more. 'shattered soul' live was proper wicked

michaelab: yeah the k&d dj kicks cd is fantastic, i've loved 'high noon' since i first heard it on that. i have k&d sessions (2 cd) which is pretty good in a chilled way and conversions which is a bit more uptempo. both have 'speechless drum and bass' - one of my all time faves. will get hold of some gotan project soon (2 recommendations now!), hope it lives up to your hype ;)

A friend copied waltz for koop for me, some of the tracks were a bit too much for me although i liked it, especially the title track

robbo: i haven't heard everyday or the new one so i wouldn't have known. hopefully i'll get to hear it soon...

Woohoo this is my kinda music. Check out this boy too Sola Rosa. Some very nice tunes.

K&D Sessions is absolute class. Quite a bit of the Thievery Corp is pretty good too. Tosca have a few great albums - Suzuki in Dub has to be my fave, obviously the "dubbed" version of Suzuki. Give the Different Tastes of Honey a miss IMO.

If you do like your dub check our Salmonella Dub too - plenty of great stuff from them around - here's just a sample Inside the Dub Plates

There's a new Cinematic Orchestra out too, something about a camera???? Anyone have that?

    Enjoy - Jay

The Killer album at my house at the min is Desmond Williams.. Delights of the Garden very good indeed...

jools don't even get me started on the ltj! i've been a massive fan of his (and the whole g.l.o) thing for ages. i've seen him spin with conrad more times than i can remember. was keeping drum and bass out of this thread till now!

can thoroughly recommend the new progression sessions (#8 live from the end), maybe not quite as good as the tokyo one but pretty damn good, as you'd expect.. i don't think i've ever heard a bad album from g.l.o

haven't got earth 3, i have earth 1 but mainly go for the logical progression/prog sesh's for their party friendlyness ;)

big bud is great, i've got late night blues and infinity+infinity. i'm also really digging makoto who has his first album out soon/now? i downloaded the promo from slsk and it sounds pretty good. 'take my soul baby' is a lush tune, nobody can stay off the dancefloor for that one. still lovin ltjs essence remix as well.

i heard conrad is working on an artist album, should be interesting

what's that system u got jools? mine is pretty simple (yammy home cinema -> arcam alpha 8 power -> tannoy m3s) but sounds smooth and i'm happy with it (for now! external dac soon i think)

i can't believe how 'in tune' this board is! good stuff..
