I am looking to change from my Cairn amp, which was only recently bought from a Cairn dealer via Ebay. It is in excellent condition and is a stunning piece of kit but is just a bit too laidback for my taste.

Looking for a similairly priced amp for trade. If nothing comes along I may also look to sell. I could also be interested in a trade for a DAC.

    Cheers

    Hi

No phono stage but it does have the remote control. The phono stage is one of the many modular upgrades available.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

    jazzpioneer,

Does the lack of phono put you off or are you at all interested? I have found a replacement amp and need to raise funds. Make me an offer.

    Cheers

    Hi Ru local,

sorry for the silence: work has kept me away from the forum for a bit.

Let me give it some thought, and I'll get back to you. As it happens I've just bought another amp, but not 100% happy with the sound (the downside of buying 2nd hand hi-fi is that you cant listen first!), so I am interested in hearing the cairn, but my cashflow is a bit constricted just now!

I'll send you an offer (or to tell you I'm not interested) via the "private message" service of this forum. Are you contactable that way?

    Again, apologies for the silence.

    regards.
    Jazz

    Hi Jazzpioneer.

No problem about the radio silence and apologies from me for not updating the thread, but the amp has now sold. Someone is coming to pick it up tomorrow. If the deal were to fall through I will let you know.

    Regards

    Paul

    Hi Paul

I'm glad you have your sale - I'm afraid I proably would not have been able to make you a very good offer, so this is is for the best, i think!

Next time I'll wait till I have the cash in hand before troubling sellers with questions ;)

    Enjoy your new amp!

BTW - what is the sound of that cairn like? I'm after a warm smooth amp - would it fit the bill in your view?

    kindest regards,
    Jazz

    Hi Jazzpioneer

I rush home today from work to meet the buyer for collection and payment to find an email saying he is pulling out. Some people are unbelievable, particularly as he knew I offered it to him at a good price as I had already agreed on and paid for a relpacement.

Anyway, the Cairn is smooth sounding and no doubt the amp of your dreams...

No, seriously, it is very smooth and warm. In fact, a bit too smooth for me, hence the sale. You may as well make me an offer. You now know I am in a bit of a bind so please feel free to take advantage. I can only say no. :)

    Regards

    Paul

Thanks Mr Cat for your comments as a Cairn user and beautifully put reflections on my collapsed sale. :)

Jazz, I see you are in London. Perhaps you would like to borrow the Cairn to have a listen in your setup?

I have popped it on Epay as one just sold on a buy it now for 725.

I will end the auction if anyone forum members fancy it for 650 collected.

    Sorry Jazz.

    Hi RULOCAL

I'm afraid i'm not going to be much use on this occasion - I'm just totally snowed down at work just now, and not getting to look on the forums...

OK, let me think about the 650 - but if someone gets there first go for it. With work commitments I'm unlikely to get close to doing anything before sunday.

    Where are you geographically?

    All the best,
    Tom (Jazz)!
