is there any way of possibly generating some kind of 'trader rating' such as the one used by AV Forums to signify trustworthy vendors on this forum?

    Just an idea, thats all

    Cheers

Given that it's hifi hunting season again and it would seem that bad eggs and Parcel Farce are back on the menu, I think we should give this a go.

I don't know how easy it would be for Michael to add a trading rater into the profiles but as mO suggested, a sticky may suffice.

It may even stop Penance pulling his hair out :D.

Can someone explain to me how the trader rating on AV Forums actually works?

I've seen it there but never really understood its meaning.

    Michael.

The new method is done via a software patch but the old way was just one thread with the members in alphabetical order together with their ratings.

New pluses were added via the thread which was updated once a week. Very simple but a pain for whoever had to do it.

Cheers Ian, but what does the rating actually mean and what makes it go up (or down) ?

    Michael.

Everytime a satisfactory sale is completed the vendor and purchasor award each other a point.

Buying second hifi from people that you don't know is always a bit risky but if the vendor has a reasonable rating it makes that risk a little less.

The problem is that on AVF most of the ratings and points awarded are for the sale or trade of DVDs whereas here it would be the sale of higher value hifi equipment therefore of much less use unless you have some serial kit changers.
