To try and relieve any questions about my setup I'll post it all first.

Rhode NT1-A Microphone > Presonus Audiobox USB > Alienware m17x Laptop > Logitech G35 USB Gaming headset.

    Software: Sonar X1 Producer

I'm hoping someone can just read that and know my exact problem before going into details.

In short, When I'm recording over an instrumental(s) I've noticed that my mic is now giving me a scratchy noise on playback. Never used to. If I talk into the microphone at a calm tone as if I'm trying to get a baby to fall asleep there's no static. But if I talk loudly or keep my voice to a rhythm, the louder notes cause a ckkk sound behind them.

New additions to my setup is simply just the headset. Noted below in longer explanation.

    The long explanation...

My setup never had this problem. I could laugh hysterically into it at 2 inches range and it'd playback fine. I even tried turning down my mic volume on the Audiobox. The Audiobox comes with 2 mic/instrument spots. I tried swapping those. I tried switching the USB ports. I tried uninstalling the Audiobox software and then reinstalling. I ORIGINALLY was using other recording software and when I noticed the awful static I bought X1 Producer. The static is similar to what you'd hear if someone yelled into a microphone at a really close range... Except it does it no matter my distance from the mic without really having to "yell".

Here's the ODD catch. At least I found it to be. When I play the instrumental(s) along side my vocals, I get the static sound on the louder/harder notes. But when I set my vocals to solo and mute all other tracks, there isn't any static and the vocals sound perfect. Ive tried compressing and EQing the hell out of them and still I can't get it.

My old headset died. It was a standard 35mm pair of Linx Audio headphones with noise cancellation. Worked great for a year until I snapped them. After that no amount of Crazy Glue or Duct Tape could save them! Bought new ones. I also thought that maybe my NEW headphones also being USB were causing an issue with the Audiobox. Some sort of "omg I can't run both of these off the same driver at once. What's going on!?"
So I bought some cheap 35mm headphones, put them in the jack, re recorded, and I still get the scratch.

I am no computer expert and maybe it's just a coincidence but when my 35mm Linx headphones broke I stopped recording for about 3 months. Bought these USB Logitech ones and decided to give them a go for recording and immediately noticed it.

If THESE stupid things are causing the issue how can I fix it... Can that even be the issue?
