They could have an amazing event on the North Downs but being National Trust that ain't gonna happen.

Chilterns is a good call. Bring it on!! closer for me to go and watch too....

''the original destination was chosen because it would look good on the television'' no wonder they rejected it!!

It would make better TV IMHO to see the riders being tested more.

what about eastgate eco village when it'd built (not sure when tho!) as they quote -

"Eastgate Renewable Energy Village could become a world class mountain biking destination"

and it's just down the road from me... :)

There's plenty of places they could make some great world-class XC courses in this country... The Peaks, The Lakes, Wales, Scotland, etc

One of the welsh trail centres might be a good venue, with some chance of having room for spectators. Llandegla's red/black loop could provide some entertaining racing, with fireroad sections with room to pass, plus things not normally seen in XC racing (berms, north shore) which could add interest to an XC course.

I am not convinced that the london organisers have quite understood mountain biking...

Quite right too Mr Cat. Do you know how long it takes to get them looking pristine again?

Now, stop winging you Northerns!. LONDON won the Olympic 2012 bid, not the North!!! :D.

Well, personally I'd say that North Shore normally isn't seen in Cross Country.... because it's got nothing to do with Cross Country!! :D

skippy jumpy things, for the bmx'y types out there...fair enough, but not XC.

Agree about Wales though, and all the other good places. The organisers seem keen to keep everything 'london centric' - but the other games in other countries would easily have events a couple of hours away from the city - no problem.

It would be nice to put a little back for the rest of the country by having the odd event in more rural places
