    This guy is totally clueless.

    Antonio,

Read this and then come back and tell us that this amp isnt sophisticated and is simple to make.

I read it before, what makes it more complicated than others...

Not questioning how it sounds, I never heard it, but sure there are many that "sound" more attractive to me...

    ermm, lots. But never mind.

Shame you're unlikely to get to hear one because thay are something quite unique and a tour de force in most areas of sound quality.

Anyway, here in Riga, if I want to hear anything different I have to mod my kit...

Why? Because you don't have FEDEX or because your wages are really low?

Of course not Antonio - but as Mr P says - it's so funny when people post one thing and do another.

    Mic,

Tell us please, how do you select the equipment you audition, you hear it before you hear it...

I don't really audition kit Antonio. I buy kit. That which I really rate stays, that which I am less enamoured with gets sold.

Nowadays, I take notice of a small group of friends whose ears I can trust and whose knowledge of audio and music is inspiring - interestingly these are people whose views you have ridiculed regularly. But for the majority of the time, I personally don't tend to follow others and I prefer to plough my own furrow. It's all about frames of reference, and I've read far too many recommendations on forums from people whose idea of a reference is a Naim Nait and an LP12.

I don't blind test kit but I believe I am honest enough to not be swayed by fashion and reputation - hence a number of high profile casualties that have been bought and sold by me over the past few years.

I most certainly do not dismiss kit simply because I don't like the idea of the technology nor because I have an issue with an advocate on a forum.Pride is sometimes the biggest obstacle to learning.

I cannot, and dont want to buy every kit I find interesting, so I audition if I can, or buy if I cannot test, what I expect will sound as I like, based on technical design, features and recommendation from people whose ears I trust, after all our method is similar, if not our taste and attitude...

I am not the one ridiculing personal views, on the contrary, I ridicule those that ridicule personal views...

Hence your need and desire to constantly tweak. The more kit you own the less you become interested in and the easier the job of choosing I find.

Having access to large amounts of hifi gives you ultimate confidence in your buying decisions. Once you have that - the constant need for experimentation and tweaking soon all but disappears. Unfortunately most of us never reach that "critical mass " of audio purchases and live in a constant belief that the next upgrade will be jaw dropping.

I am only one more of the "most of us"...

But many times, tweaking is more fun than buying new stuff... ;)

Ant I love this one. From the Japanese SET builder Mekano San?

How about this baby? Something for Murray?
