    hi all,
i am thinking about a cd upgrade and would very much like to hear the views of real people.

i use 2 players at the mo which are a meridian 208 and marantz cd 10. both getting on a bit but i like them.
the upgrade bug is looming large due to winter blues or something?

have you listened to anything that blew your socks off lately?

    thanks in advance, rick.

ps: i know that a turntable is the way forward but i am cd only these days

if you do go the dac route the audio synthesis dax 2 is a fantastic dac... i just so happen to have one for sale ;)

seriously though a dac will certainly spice up your existing cd player far more cost effectively than a new integrated would.
    cheers

i have tried the dac route, i had the meridian 203 dac 7 and found it didnt sound as good as the player on its own (in my opinion) also had a dpa little bit3. cambridge isomagic.

i am minimalist to say the least, i like players with variable output to feed directly to the power amps, a dac tends to complicate matters in that department.

budget is pretty much what i could raise for the 2 ive got and a bit more so up to about £700 on the s/h market is what id be looking to spend. i like the honesty of the meridian and the detail of the marantz so something with both qualities would be nice.

ive been out of the loop for a while now and im sure things have been made that cater for my needs?
